Sheriff Finds Firearm In Car Following Traffic Stop

She has been on the job for less than three months and has made an arrest. Jefferson County

Sheriff  Zena Stephens was driving on I-10 Friday when a car passed her on the right shoulder

traveling at a high rate of speed. Sheriff Stephens activated her emergency lights and siren and

made a traffic stop. Stephens detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and after

running a check, it was learned the driver of the car 35-year old Brandon Square of Humble had

a lengthy record. Square told Sheriff Stephens and other deputies at the scene there was a handgun

in the car. A .45 caliber and two loaded magazines, and a small amount of marijuana were found.

Square has been charged with felon in possession of a firearm.
