A hazmat team was called to the Jack Brooks Federal Building in downtown Beaumont
yesterday afternoon to investigate a suspicious package that was found near the building.
Beaumont police blocked off the streets around the building while the package was being
tested. The white powder in the package turned out to be talcum powder. Investigators are
now trying to determine how the package got there.
