Hundreds of Bevil Oaks residents attended a meeting last night to voice their concerns and
learn about recovery options following Tropical Storm Harvey, which destroyed nearly every
home in the Jefferson County community. Residents were told that those looking to rebuild
must have a building permit, three completed home inspections and no more than 19% of
moisture can remain in the wood framing of homes. Residents will be allowed to have
travel trailers on their property while they rebuild. Sewer service in Bevil Oaks may not
return for another two or three weeks.
