Harvey Impacts Fall Semester Enrollment At Lamar

Tropical Storm Harvey had an impact on enrollment at Lamar University in Beaumont. The

fall numbers are down 3.2% from the fall of 2016. 14,526 students are enrolled compared to

15,001 in the fall of 2016. Semester credit hours are down 3.2%. Although overall numbers

are down slightly, some areas still grew or remained steady. Occupancy in the university’s

residence halls, Cardinal Village, is at an all-time high, transfer student enrollment rose,

and the incoming freshman class is among some of the best prepared students to date based

on average SAT and ACT scores.
