The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office reports a man is dead after fleeing from deputies on a
motorcycle just before Midnight Sunday. The chase started following a disturbance call on
Highway 96, north of Buna, and ended on FM 1004, south of Buna. The driver of the motorcycle
lost control in a driveway. It is believed the 41-year old Buna man shot himself after wrecking.
He was transported to a Beaumont hospital where he died.
