The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office have filed three charges against a man that
was arrested this week on the campus of Lamar University in possession of five loaded
handguns, two unloaded assault rifles, a ziplock bag of ammunition, and alcohol. 63-year old
Mark Edward Smith is charged with unlawful carry of a firearm, driving while intoxicated, and
failure to ID. He remains in the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.
