Torres Sentenced To Additional 20 Years In Prison

Louis Torres, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence for the death of Beaumont police officer

Sheena Yarbough-Powell, appeared in a Jefferson County courtroom yesterday and was

sentenced to another 20 years for injuring her partner, Officer Gabriel Fells. The officer’s patrol

unit was hit head-on by a vehicle driven by Torres going the wrong way on Cardinal Drive in

August of 2020. He pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The sentences

will run concurrently.
