Here are some thoughts on the proposed “bullet train”. I remember in the fifties while traveling Texas as a musician the thought of an interstate highway was crazy. People were yelling “land grabbers” “crooks” and everything else. But if we wanted progress we had to build it. It took a lot of space but it was necessary. It took forever to get to New Orleans from Beaumont until the interstate cut through the Atchafalaya and gave us access to Baton Rouge and the Big Easy. Picture not having that now. Picture Houston without an interstate. “A cluster”. People don’t want the train running through their property but you’ll be able to get from Houston to Dallas in 90 minutes. It will ease the traffic on 45. It will save gas.How much less pollution? How many fewer accidents? How much less road rage? Think about it.It’s progress. We didn’t want the automobile, or the jets, or the drones. They’re here. Driverless autos? On the way. It’s progress, folks.  Deal with it.
