The Sabine-Neches Waterway Channel Improvement Project is set to receive more than
$2.3 million in federal funding to complete the pre-construction, engineering, and desing
phase to deepen the ship channel from its current depth of 40 to 48 feet. The Sabine-Neches
waterway channel improvement project was federally authorized in 2014. The waterway is
the nation’s largest exporter of crude oil, liquefied natural gas, and petroleum coke.
