Beaumont police report a 27-year old woman died this morning in a wreck after fleeing from
police. Around 1:30 this morning, police attempted to stop a vehicle on Washington Blvd near Ave A,
when the driver sped off at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control and crashed near the
intersection of Kenneth & Elgie. The driver, April Phillips, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries.
