A man jailed in Jasper County accused of deliberating setting his grandmother’s home on fire
is now charged with capital murder. The charges on 26-year old Cedric McGill were upgraded
following the death of his grandmother, 68-year old Bertha McGill. The fire in the 200 block
of Othello Street in Jasper was set on June 4th. Bertha McGill died at a Galveston Hospital on
June 15th. Cedric McGill is being held on a $1 million bond.
