The gunman in last night’s deadly shooting in Beaumont is claiming self-defense. Witnesses told
police the victim was intoxicated and arguing with people in the 4300 block of Flamingo. The
victim struck a pole and threatened and struck a neighbor with his car. The neighbor, a 31-year
old Beaumont man, told officers he feared for his life and shot the victim. He is cooperating with
police. An arrest has not been made. The case will be turned over to the district attorney’s office
to be submitted to the grand jury. No names have been released.
