The Southeast Texas Alerting Network, known as STAN, will conduct a mass notification
exercise this morning. During the exercise, test messages will be sent to landlines and cell
phones that have previously registered with the system. The exercise is meant to encourage
residents to register their cell phones for alert notifications. The STAN system sends out
messages for emergency situations such as hurricane evacuations, shelter-in-place, and
other natural or manmade incidents.
