Five people died in two separate accidents on I-10 West this morning. The first one
occurred around 4:00 am near the Goodyear Plant in Jefferson County. The DPS reports
45-year old Dennis Carlin of Lake Charles hit the back of an 18-wheeler. He was pronounced
dead at the scene. Around 6:30 this morning a wreck involving an 18-wheeler and seven
passenger vehicles occurred on I-10 West in Beaumont at Major Drive. A family of four from
Georgia died. They have been identified as 36-year old Chelsea Stanbury and three children,
10-year old Anthony Jr, 8-year old Anaiyah, and 6-year old Chase. There were three other passengers
in that vehicle. Both wrecks remain under investigation.
