When Jefferson County commissioners meet this afternoon, they adopt the budget and tax rate
for the upcoming fiscal year. The tax rate is at just over 36 cents per $100 valuation.
The majority of a tax rate is for maintenance and operations. The remaining is for debt service.
Budgets and tax rates must be finalized by the end of the month.
