Taking a look at some of the local races from across southeast Texas last night, In Jefferson
County, Jeff Branick has been reelected county judge by defeating former Congressman Nick
Lampson by 949 votes for 51% of the vote. For 172nd State Court District Judge, Mitch
Templeton picked up 51% of the vote to defeat Melody Chappell, to replace the retiring
Donald Floyd. From the city of Groves, 62% of the voters voted in favor of a recall election
for councilman Cross Coburn. The recall was placed on the ballot after inappropriate photos
of Coburn appeared on a gay dating website.
