An investigation is underway after a white powdery substance was found at the federal
prison complex in Beaumont Tuesday. The substance was discovered during a routine
screening of inmate mail. A hazmat team was called to the complex to test the substance.
Initial test indicate the powder did not contain a hazardous substance. Three staff members
were medically evaluated.
