The DPS reports a 66-year old Beaumont man was killed last night after he was struck by a
car on South Broadway Street in China. Melton Sonnier was laying in a curled position in the
road when he was hit. The driver of the car, a 39-year old Beaumont man, slammed on his
brakes and could not avoidhitting Sonnier, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
