Gas prices are down as we head into the Memorial Day holiday weekend. The average price
for a gallon in the Beaumont/Port Arthur area is $2.53, which is down a penny from last week.
A year ago on this date we were paying $2.70. This morning’s statewide average is down two
cents to $2.55. The national average is down a penny to $2.84. These averages are compiled
