A man has been detained after shots were fired at Jefferson County deputies Saturday night.
Deputies were doing a welfare check on a veteran that allegedly had shot his dog. The man
shot at deputies, then got into his vehicle and drove into Hardin County where he crashed his
vehicle in Kountze. He fired more shots at officers and fled into a wooded area. The man, who
may be suffering from PTSD, was taken into custody early yesterday morning. There were no
injuries during the incident.
