A Silsbee man was airlifted to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital this morning following a
one-vehicle wreck in western Jefferson County. The DPS reports 30-year old Robert Lee
was traveling west near the 840 mile maker when he drove off the interstate. The 18-wheeler
rolled onto its side spilling a load of wooded pallets. Lee was trapped in the vehicle for
approximately 30 minutes. Lee is listed in serious condition. It could be mid afternoon
before the I-10 west at that location will be reopened. Motorists are urged to find an alternate
route.
