A man accused of inuring a Newton County constable has turned himself in. Constable
Holton “Bubba” Johnson was attending a church service at Toledo Bend Baptist Church
Sunday when he checked on a suspicious man sitting in a car. The man had a gun in his
lap. Constable Johnson reached in the car to take the gun and the driver drove off dragging
Johnson. The driver of the car will be arraigned today. Constable Johnson is recovering
from his injuries.
