A wreck in Tyler County has claimed the life of a Polk County woman. The DPS reports
48-year old Katrena Kay Smith, of Onalaska, pulled off of FM 1746 yesterday afternoon
onto Highway 190 in front of an oncoming pickup. She was pronounced dead at the
scene. A passenger in her car, 42-year old Marshall Tucker, of Onalaska, was transported
to the hospital where he refused medical treatment. The driver of the pickup, 31-year old
Kenneth Shavers, of Fred, was not hurt.
