Jury selection is underway in a murder trial at the Jefferson County Courthouse. 21-year old
Diante Burrell is on trial for the 2017 shooting death 20-year old Javonte Jack at the Avery
Trace Apartments in Port Arthur. This past August, Judge Raquel West threw out evidence in the
case relating to an illegal search of Burrell’s home. After a jury is seated, testimony will begin in
Judge West’s courtroom.
