+After consulting with local health authorities, county judge, state officials, and regional educational leaders, the Beaumont Independent SchoolDistrict has determined that it is in the best interest of students, staff, and the community for the district to transition into a flexible education program beginning this coming Monday, March 23rd until April 3rd. The flexible education program will be further detailed in the next few days but will entail students to be educated at home. BISD is on spring break this week
+ The Nederland School District have cancelled classes thru Friday, April 3rd. The district will be providing a flexible education program. Details of the program will be released soon. Also, beginning Monday NISD will be offering a meal pick up for those under 18. Meals will be available to be picked up at Nederland High School, Wilson Middle School, Central MiddleSchool, and Hillcrest Elementary. Hours will be 7:30-9:00 and 11:30-1:00 Monday-Friday
+Christus Southeast Texas Health System has established some new guidelines until further notice. The new visiting hours are 8:00 am – 6:00 pm. One visitor per patient, with the exception of labor and delivery and post-partum where the addition on one support person is allowed. One entrance at each facility, which will be main entrance on Calder Street in Beaumont, main entrance on Ninth Avenue in Port Arthur, main entrance on Marvin Hancock Drive in Jasper, and the main entrance on Laurel Street in Beaumont for the Bone & Joint Institute. An entrance for the Outpatient Pavillion will be announced later. All visitors will be screened for the COVID-19 at those points of entry.
+The Texas Energy Museum in Beaumont has announced they have rescheduled its annual Texas Energy Museum Blowout. The event, originally scheduled for March 26th, has been moved to September 17th. This year’s guest speaker will be Trey Gowdy, former politician and federal prosecutor.
+The city of Beaumont wants to alert citizens about the danger of flushing certain items that could damage the city’s sewer system. Do not flush items such as baby wipes, paper towels, rags, clothing, or other items not intended to be flushed. These items will cause blockages in your sewer line and thecity’s main line resulting in sewer backups. Any of these items used, must be placed in garbage bag and placed inside you garbage can for collection.
+Three area county judges have ordered 24 hour curfews for those under the age of 18. Anyone under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. If someone under the age of 18 has a job, they are allowed to go to and from to work. These curfews are in Jefferson, Hardin, and Orange counties.
+In Orange County, District Courts and County Court at Law Judges have suspended jury trials through April 30th. Only emergency type hearings will be heard. Judges are urging attorneys and citizens to call or e-mail their offices with questions or concerns. All inmate visitations and the Orange County Jail have been suspended until further notice. County offices will continue to operate at their normal hours as of now.
