The Newton County Sheriff’sOffice has released the name of a man that was struck and
killed by a pickup on County Road 3038 at the Jasper County line. He has been identified
as 28-year old Brett Trowbridge, of Kirbyville. The driver of the pickup was arrested in
Jasper County on an unrelated charge. The incident is being investigated by the Newton and
Jasper County sheriff’s offices.
