This is National Fire Prevention Week and the American Red Cross Gulf Coast urges residents
to test their smoke alarms and practice their escape plan as home fires continue during COVID-
19. In the past six months, the Red Cross has responded to more than 1,000 home fires
throughout the Texas Gulf Coast region, helping people with urgent needs like emergency
lodging, financial assistance, and recovery planning.
