Authorities have released the name of a man that was shot and killed by a Nederland police
officer Tuesday night. He has been identified as 29-year old Daron Jones, of Port Arthur.
Early investigation reveals Jones was involved in a domestic disturbance at a home in Port
Neches in which a shot was fired. Jones fled to Nederland. A Nederland police office was
involved in a foot pursuit with Jones. During the pursuit Jones displayed a gun and the officer
shot him. The officer has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard policy. The
case is being investigated by the Texas Rangers, Nederland police, Port Neches police and
the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.
