The Jefferson County grand jury has indicted a Port Arthur man for murder. 18-year old
Christopher Mitchell is accused of the October 11th drive-by shooting death of 24-year old
Christopher Sellers in the 100 block of Nolan Street in Beaumont. Mitchell is also charged
with aggravated assault for shooting a wounding a man that was with Sellers. Mitchell and
three others were arrested in Groves the following morning.
A 42-year old Beaumont man has been indicted for murder. Murray Odom is charged with
the August 15th shooting death of 56-year old Melvin Savoy. The two men were involved in
an argument over missing tools in the 1600 block of Leight Street in Beaumont when the
shooting occurred.
