The unemployment rate in the Beaumont/Port Arthur area was 6.3% in April, down from 6.6% in March. In April of last year, the rate was 9.7%. However, the Golden Triangle has the second highest jobless rate in Texas, behind 6.8% in the McAllen-Edinburgh-Mission area. The number of those employed in the Beaumont-Port Arthur area is 155,021. That’s an increase of 4,286 in the past year.
