The Beaumont police force is stronger with five new officers. The officers were sworn in
yesterday by Chief of Police Jimmy Singletary. The department now has 248 officers, 12 short
of the 260 for fully staffed. Also yesterday, Jake Best was promoted to sergeant and Jason
Plunkett to assistant chief.
