The Newton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting. It occurred this past Sunday in
the 800 block of County Road 1416 in Bon Wier. The victim, Jessica McCain sustained a
gunshot wound to the chin. On Wednesday, an arrest warrant was issued for her boyfriend,
Gabriel A Witmer. He is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and false
report to a peace officer. His bonds total $20,000
