A teen is jailed after running into the back of a Buna school bus then fleeing on foot. DPS Lt.
Chuck Havard tells us the crash happened Wednesday morning about three miles south of
Buna on Highway 96. Following the crash, the driver of the SUV, 18-year old Dalton
Blankenship, of Buna, fled on foot and was found hiding in a nearby shed. A passenger in
his vehicle, 49-year old Tina Hays of Buna, was transported to Christus St. Elzabeth Hospital
in Beaumont. The driver of the bus and three students were checked at the scene by EMS and
then taken to school.
