The DPS reports a woman from Orange died this morning in a head-on collision in southern
Newton County. 53-year old Stephanie Gillespie was traveling north on Highway 62, about
three miles north of Mauriceville when a southbound vehicle crossed into her lane of traffic. She
was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the southbound vehicle was transported to the
hospital in stable condition.
