Looking at gas prices as we head into the long holiday weekend shows the average price for a
gallon in the Beaumont/Port Arthur area is $2.96 a gallon, which is down 12 cents from last
week. The statewide average dropped 13 cents to $2.95. The national average dropped 14 cents
to $3.60 a gallon. Texas has the lowest statewide average in the nation. These averages are from
