Governor Greg Abbott has sent a letter to the President asking for a Presidential Disaster
Declaration for four Southeast Texas Counties hit by tornadoes in late January. The counties
involved are Harris, Jefferson, Liberty and Orange. Numerous homes and businesses were
damaged in those severe storms and tornado outbreak between January 23rd and 25th. If the
request is granted, folks in those areas will be eligible for federal resources on top of the state
help already available thanks to the Governor's state disaster declaration.
