The Beaumont-Port Arthur metro area was one of the fastest growing construction job markets in the
nation during the past 12 months. In Nederland yesterday Brian Turmoil, spokesman for the Associated
General Contractors of America, said 2,100 new construction jobs were added between March of 2022
and March of 2023, a 12% increase. There are currently 20,100 people working construction jobs in the
Beaumont/Port Arthur area. That is up from 18,000. This is despite a widespread labor shortages in the
industry.
