(Baton Rouge, LA)-- A statewide burn ban in Louisiana is now in effect. The Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office declared the ban at 5 p.m. Monday in response to ongoing dry conditions across the state. The ban applies to all "private" burning that's not authorized by a local government or fire department. Barbecue grills, fire pits, and small campfires are exempt from the burn ban. Officials say anybody who violates the ban will face consequences. The ban will be in effect until further notice.
