Checking gas prices as we head into the Labor Day weekend shows the average price in the Beaumont/
Port Arthur area is $3.35 a gallon, that is down two cents from last week. A year ago on the first day
of September we were paying $3.40 a gallon. This morning’s statewide average is down three cents to
$3.40 a gallon. The national average for a gallon of gas in $3.81. These averages are from Triple A Texas.
