A Beaumont man has been convicted of murder. A Jefferson Count jury found 46-year Max Lee Keath
guilty for the October 2022 death of 38-year old Christopher Matthews, who died after being struck by
a pickup being driven by Keath in the parking lot of a Beaumont apartment complex on Major Drive. The
two were involved in a confrontation. Keath faces 5-99 years in prison. The punishment phase begins this
morning in Judge Raquel West’s courtroom.
