Inmates from Newton County could been spending time in the Beauregard Parish jail in Louisiana. Sheriff
Robert Burby submitted a proposal to Newton County commissioners yesterday asking for an inter-local
agreement for Beauregard Parish to house overflow inmates from Newton County. On November 28th,
there were 20 inmates in Newton County A jail commission’s inspection they are six inmates over their
capacity. Newton already has eight inmates housed in the Jasper County Jail.
