The Texas Republican party is censuring House Speaker Dade Phelan, of Beaumont, for his role in the
impeachment of Attorney General Ken Paxton. A press release by the Texas GOP said Representative
Phelan was "officially censured" on Saturday for "lack of fidelity to Republican principles and priorities."
The Texas House voted to impeach Paxton last May for allegedly misusing his powers to help an Austin
real estate investor who was under federal investigation. Paxton was acquitted by Republicans in the
Senate
