Like father, like son. Chuck Havard won the Republican nomination for sheriff in Jasper County while
his son Colton Havard defeated incumbent Robert Burby in Newton County. Bobby Smith picked up
56% of the vote for sheriff in Orange County in the five man race that included incumbent Jimmy Lane
Mooney. Jefferson County Sheriff Zena Stephens picked up 90% of the vote to win the Democratic
Primary. She will have an opponent in November.
