At last report, the search continued for a suspected drowning victim. According to the Jefferson
County Sheriff’s Office, five adults had their boat anchored last night in the Neches River and were
swimming when 26-year old Carlos Chavez Padalla drifted too far out and did not resurface. The
search for Padalla resumed this morning.
