Hurricane Beryl Update From Greg Bostwick 07/04 10a

Beryl continues to weaken as wind shear disrupts the circulation especially in the southwestern and western quadrant. Winds are now 115 mph and weakening to a CAT1/CAT2 hurricane is expected when it makes landfall southwest of Cozumel tomorrow morning after daybreak.

Beryl will become a tropical storm Friday afternoon as it crosses the Yucatan and emerges into the Bay of Campeche Friday night.

There will be some opportunity for Beryl to intensify some before a final landfall close to Brownsville around daybreak Monday. After landfall, a northwesterly track will likely continue as high pressure starts to rebuild from the east.

Locally, tides will likely run about 2 feet above normal along the coast by Monday with some overwash possible along 87 near High Island. Deeper moisture will likely move in as well Monday evening into the middle part of next week with periods of rain....at times locally heavy. However, the heaviest rain will likely stay well to our west from South Texas north and northwest into the Hill Country.
