It took a Jefferson County jury 15 minutes to convict a man of capital murder. 38-year old Johnathan Paul Menard was found guilty for the November 2020 murder of his pregnant girlfriend 33-year old Kayla Rice, a homicide that occurred on McFadden in Beaumont. Her body was found in February of 2021 in a grave in Vinton, Louisiana. Menard receives an automatic life sentence, without the possibility of parole.
