The expected turn to the northeast is beginning and Francine will begin to accelerate to the northeast later today into Wednesday. Landfall is expected late tomorrow afternoon south of New Iberia...west of Morgan City.
Francine remains a tropical storm but still has the opportunity to reach CAT1 status before landfall.
Locally, with landfall well to our east, just some periods of rain this evening into Wednesday with the bulk of the rain near the coast. Rainfall in the Lakes Area will be 1/2 to 1 inch....perhaps 1-2 inches near the coast. Winds will not be significant with gusts to around 35 mph around Sabine Lake with even lighter speeds further inland.
