Work Zone fatalities in Texas increased by 27% in 2016 resulting in about 181 lives lost.
Of those fatalities, 174 or 96%, were motorists, pedestrians, or bicyclist. In 2016, there were
481 work zone crashes in Beaumont, resulting in three fatalities. In Port Arthur, there were
20 work zone crashes resulting in one serious injury. This is National Work Zone Awareness
week.
