Trump Suggests North Korea Meeting Could Be Delayed

Trump says North Korean meeting could be delayed

Just three weeks before a planned June 12th meeting between President Donald Trump and North Korea's Kim Jong Un, Trump seemed to suggest Tuesday morning that the planned summit "may not work out," suggesting a potential delay.

The news comes as Trump meets with South Korea's president Moon Jae-in Tuesday, ahead of the planned summit. Trump told reporters: "If it doesn’t happen, maybe it happens later," adding that "There are certain conditions that we want."

Trump did not elaborate on what those additional conditions were.

The situation between the U.S. and North Korea has grown more complicated in recent weeks following threats from North Korea of pulling out from the summit. The North is upset about a planned joint military exercise between South Korea and the United States and unhappy about the Trump Administration's insistence on complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.

Vice President Mike Pence told Fox News Radio that it would be a mistake for North Korea to believe they can play the administration for concessions.

“We offered concessions to the North Korean regime in exchange for promises to end their nuclear weapons program, only to see them break those promises and abandon them,” said Pence.

Trump said that he believes Kim would be "extremely happy" if he agrees to a deal with the U.S.
