A Voluntary Evacuation Order Issued For Port Neches Residents

BREAKING: Unified Command has just issued a VOLUNTARY evacuation for those living in Port Neches.

The City of Port Neches and Jefferson County Judge Branick have issued a voluntary evacuation for all residents in the City of Port Neches due to elevated levels of 1,3-Butadiene. These elevated levels have been measured in some portions of the city. There is an expected shift in wind direction overnight, and high humidity will keep the vapors near the ground. The current levels being measured do not pose a serious health risk but may cause dizziness, nasea, headaches, irritated eyes and throat. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms you are encouraged to leave your location. Any of these symptoms experienced are reversible and will not have long term effects.

The current levels do not pose a flammability or explosion risk.

The highest current and anticipated measurements have been identified from Saba Lane to Nall Street and north to Port Neches Avenue.

A temporary shelter for those needing a place to stay has been set up at Ford Park Arena, 5115 Interstate 10 S, Beaumont, TX 77705.
